Performance Measurements Within Asynchronous Task-Based Runtime Systems: A Double White Dwarf Merger as an Application

چکیده

Analyzing performance within asynchronous many-task-based runtime systems is challenging because millions of tasks are launched concurrently. Especially for long-term runs, the amount data collected becomes overwhelming. We study HPX and its performance-counter framework autonomic environment Exascale to collect energy consumption. added application-specific counters Octo-Tiger full 3-D adaptive multigrid code astrophysics application. This enables combined visualization physical highlight bottlenecks with respect different solvers. examine overhead introduced by these measurements, which around 1%, overall application runtime. perform a resolution four levels refinement analyze application's grid refinement. The measurements' overheads small, enabling use properties goal improving code's performance. All runs were obtained on NERSC's Cori, Louisiana Optical Network Infrastructure's QueenBee2, Indiana University's Big Red 3.

Automatic Code Generation for an Asynchronous Task-based Runtime

Hardware scaling considerations associated with the quest for exascale and extreme scale computing are driving system designers to consider event-driven-task (EDT)-oriented execution models for executing on deep hardware hierarchies. Further, for performance, productivity, and code sustainability reasons, there is an increasing demand for autoparallelizing compiler technologies to automatically...

Remnant evolution after a carbon-oxygen white dwarf merger

We systematically explore the evolution of the merger of two carbon-oxygen (CO) white dwarfs. The dynamical evolution of a 0.9 M⊙ + 0.6 M⊙ CO white dwarf merger is followed by a three-dimensional SPH simulation. The calculation uses a state-of-the art equation of state that is coupled to an efficient nuclear reaction network that accurately approximates all stages from helium burning up to nucl...

Asynchronous Runtime for Task-Based Dataflow Programming Models

The importance of parallel programming is increasing year after year since the power wall popularized multi-core processors, and with them, shared memory parallel programming models. In particular, task-based programming models, like the standard OpenMP 4.0, have become more and more important. They allow describing a set of data dependences per task that the runtime uses to order the execution...

Lisa Astronomy of Double White Dwarf Binary Systems

The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) will provide the largest observational sample of (interacting) double white dwarf binaries, whose evolution is driven by radiation reaction and other effects, such as tides and mass transfer. We show that, depending on the actual physical parameters of a source, LISA will be able to provide very different quality of information: for some systems LIS...

Performance Investigation of Pentacene Based Organic Double Gate Field Effect Transistor and its Application as an Ultrasensitive Biosensor

In this paper, the electrical performance of double gate organic field effecttransistor (DG-OFET) are thoroughly investigated and feasibility of the deviceas an efficient biosensor is comprehensively assessed. The introduced deviceprovides better gate control over the channel, yielding better charge injectionproperties from source to channel and providing higher on-state...
